BHP Billiton is currently pursuing an exploration program involving a significant nickel laterite deposit in Eastern Indonesia. This potential resource opportunity is in the early stages of study development, however our aim is to build world-class mining facilities, a process plant and associated infrastructure.

POSITION SYNOPSIS
Reporting to the Process Manager, you will be responsible for the identification of alternatives for the mine design in this dynamic Nickel laterite development. In conjunction with this, you will be accountable for progressing the engineering study through basic and detailed engineering, as required by the study phase, in order to generate an optimised mine plan and extraction sequence. The execution of the mine strategy will comply with local and statutory laws and regulations, whilst ensuring optimum return for both the community and company. You will also be involved in contributing to the Ore Reserve Statement and Project Execution definition.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Your solid background in large scale development projects and exposure to Nickel will be supported by a degree qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering. You will have had previous experience working in a senior mining engineer role incorporating the accountabilities listed above. An innovative and strategy-focussed self starter, who thrives on goal achievement, you are driven to achieving the highest Health, Safety, Environmental and Community standards, and Zero Harm practices. Your communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesian will allow you to deal with a wide range of key stakeholders to help ensure the success of the project.
This is a Jakarta-based position with frequent travel.
